Crunchy Part Four

Dear Co-worker,
I am so proud of you! It takes strength and courage to change your family's eating habits and change their diet. Heck, it's tough changing your own self. So coodles to you for working so hard for the past few months. My journey consisted of the understanding of a gluten allergy, you can find that post here, then we attempted to eliminate pork (lasted a month) and we successfully cut out canola in a post here and finally made changes to our guts in a post, here. We were on a mission to feel better and be healthier.

We ran into some trouble though. Families doesn't always support your decisions especially when it goes against your past. But with some explanation and trials, they will jump on board. For example, my dear sweet mother made both a regular sweet potato pie and gluten free pie at Thanksgiving! She and my father also gave up Canola Oil, MSG and HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) after learning about them from me. So I challenge you my co-worker, to try the same thing. Change your family's oil to Coconut, Sunflower, Grapeseed, and/or Olive Oil. Nut and seed derived oils are much healthier for your body. The biggest bonus is, it can be used on the outside of your body. More on that in the future!

Before I let you go, I want to propose a bigger challenge. Buy all of your fruits and veggies this summer locally. Head to your area's farmers market and stock up on locally grown produce. Do not wait until the grocery store gets a shipment in from a farm that can produce #10,000 carrots. Buy from the family that produced #2,000 carrots and harvested it with their hands. The price will be lower because there isn't a grocer mark-up and the family is more grateful. The families get to know you each week and sometimes throw in extra. I got 6 lbs of broccoli for $3 once. I stocked my freezer with 9 cups of chopped carrots last summer for $2 and they made wonderful soups all winter.

I will be at the farmers market weekly and I hope to see you there!
